Sweating and screaming into the mic, Geoff embodied the raw, chaotic energy that defines United Nations’ live shows. Being up close to capture moments like this felt like documenting a force of nature, with the unfiltered passion, the defiant messages, and the band’s unmatched intensity all coming through in one frame.
United Nations is no ordinary band; it’s a hardcore punk supergroup shrouded in mystery. Formed in 2005, the group includes an ever-shifting lineup of notable musicians whose identities have often been concealed due to contractual obligations. Early promo images showed members wearing Ronald Reagan masks, and the only name that could legally appear in press materials was Rickly’s, as his primary band, Thursday, wasn’t bound by similar restrictions. Founding contributors include Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw, Head Automatica), Jonah Bayer, and Lukas Previn, though the band’s roster has evolved over time.
This show was part of The Next Four Years tour, following the release of their second studio album of the same name in July 2014. United Nations’ music is as uncompromising as their live performances, blending searing hardcore punk with politically charged themes and biting satire.
