I started going to Chain when I was 16. Back then, it was all about seeing bands like Over My Dead Body, H2O, The Blood Brothers, Thursday, Thrice, Death by Stereo, and Throwdown. Those were the nights that shaped a lot of us, and over the years, it has been wild to see those same bands evolve and come back around.
I would come out just to hang with the friends running the place and catch a band’s set. Over time, I was able to keep shooting a lot of those same artists as they moved on to bigger venues, like Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World, The Offspring, and Saosin playing that same tiny stage again. It never gets old.
Chain has always been our Sandlot, our clubhouse. It is the kind of place that did not have to change because it already knew exactly what it was. We have all spent hours leaning on cars out front, trading stories and watching the scene grow up. You do not forget nights like that.
