Seeing Saosin play Chain Reaction in 2018 was a direct throwback. They booked a multi-night residency called the “World Tour of Anaheim,” returning to the exact intimate room where the band originally started out. Hearing tracks from the Translating the Name EP inside a space of that size was incredible, capturing the raw, close-up intensity that completely gets lost on massive festival stages.
I caught this photo right as the set peaked. Anthony Green was leaning out over the crowd while the front rows pushed forward, screaming every lyric right back at the stage. The standout moment of the night came when the band broke into “Voices,” a track originally from the Cove Reber era. Anthony had never performed that song live before this run, making it a completely unexpected choice that drove the entire room off the charts.
Saosin’s live formula has always relied on highly technical post-hardcore instrumentation paired with heavy emotional delivery. Documenting this specific residency inside a venue so deeply tied to the roots of the sub-genre locked in a unique moment in the band’s touring history.
